Over the years Tempest Photography has photographed christenings of all shapes and sizes, of many religious denominations and in all types of locations. Parks, small chapels, large cathedrals, family homes and even a reception at the Melbourne Zoo.

Our style of photography can be considered as reportage' style. We capture moments and moods, taking note of lighting, colours and settings. We also make time for portrait setups of groups or immediate family. We always chat about this on the day to determine the best location and time for the portaits.

The first thing we ask when you enquire about a christening booking is the estimated time you may require. Weather you are having photos taken at the home before hand, or go straight to the ceremony, and if there is a reception afterwards. We have accomodated all combinations of special days.

Our prices are based on hours booked and not the locations of events. We travel to all areas of Metro Melbourne. We have pricing options from 3 to 6 hour bookings. 

Ceremony Only Photography booking for $500
(Suitable for Ceremony only photography. If you only want to capture the ceremony and don’t require any photos at the reception, this is the best options. Includes coverage of the entire ceremony and a few portrait and group photos inside or just outside the church right after the ceremony.) Add $200 for a 5-8 min highlight video. 3hr booking for $700 (10min highlight video add $350)
(Suitable for Ceremony and approx an hour and a half at Reception.)

4hr booking for $800 (15min highlight video add $400)
(Suitable for some photos at home before ceremony, ceremony and approx hour and a half reception coverage.)

5hr booking for $900 (20min highlight video add $450)
(Plenty of time for photos at home before hand or lots of extra coverage for larger receptions with traditional dances and lots of group photos.)

6hr booking for $1,000

Highlight Videos from $350 (for 3hr booking, add $50 for every hour booked after 3hr)
Get a 10min highlight video to accompany your photos. This is a highlights of key moments I capture on video along side the photos, using the latest hybrid cameras. No sound is captured, only video. A music soundtrack is added to your video in post production. The video are full HD quality.
Please keep in mind, this is no substitute for a full videographer package. It is just a bonus for those not looking to add a full videography service.

AT HOME: For those looking to fit some photos at home before the ceremony. We can spend as little as 45min or an hour. (depending on travel time to ceremony). We can have just the immediate family for a few portraits at home or getting the little one dressed. If godparents are present, capturing godparents dressing the little one are always wonderful photos.
If you have food and drinks prepared and guests coming over for a morning celebration Tempest will capture these candid moments of celebration.

AT THE CEREMONY: Most of the photos on the ceremony are candids, capturing the event and guests. With special focus on the little one’s christening, parents, siblings, godparents and grand parents. Tempest will aim to capture all the key moments; the ‘dunking’ or water baptism, getting dressed and traditional clipping of hair or speeches. If time permits we can take a few group photos inside the church after ceremony. Or if weather permits outside the church in beautiful natural light, as church can be quite dark at times.

AT THE RECEPTION: The reception is a good time to capture a couple of group photos by the cake and display. Where space permits, Tempest will use studio lights for the posed photos, for beautiful clear portraits. We also take the time to capture small details, the cake, decorations, table centre pieces. If you would like photos of the cutting of the cake, best to schedule within the time booked. For events with traditional dances we love to capture all those moments including the little one standing on drums photos.

Please send us an email with your enquiry if your function times are a little scattered or if you have special requests for any images you would like captured. We try to be as flexible as possible to make your day stress free and enjoyable.

(Travel times between venues is counted in your booking times. Travel fee applies for locations outside metro Melbourne. If you have a large time gab between venues, please message us to discuss.)

DELIVERY OF YOUR PHOTOS

All photos are checked and colour and exposure correction applied where required. (We do our best to have pleasant skin tones, however some churches and venue lighting have strong colours that will affect final tones.)

We supply your final photos at full print quality ready to take to your local photo print shop.

Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for final delivery.

We deliver the photo via a secure online portal to download and share with family and friends.

In most cases you will receive over 400 photos, represeting all the special moments of the day.

You will receive all photos in both a colour and black and white version.
